Authorship lies in the first gesture, not the last. Tensioning the knit onto the frame sets the tension on which every cut, every underlay, every layer of depth will live or fail. My hand is in the foundation, not the ornament. Tension is a decision — and that decision is mine.

My hand opens and closes every work. The tension is the first gesture; the mark below is the last. Between them, the workshop works. The first and final decision of every work in the book are mine. No one else's.

The base may be made in the workshop and scales without limit — it does not enter the Codex. Works tensioned by my hand, from Level I upward, receive a numbered page. The apprentice prepares, builds the base, stitches. The workshop guides the blades that open the surface — but I guide the frame. This is the line between what is counted and what repeats. This article describes the House once the apprentice has joined it.

LiczbaThe Number

The number is known only to the hand.
One hand must be present for the first gesture of every work. So the number is finite, and can only fall. The world does not count the edition — it feels it close. When the pages are taken, the edition shuts. It does not reopen.

SukcesjaThe Succession
Zawsze moja ręka — ale nie zawsze sam. Uczeń nie rozcieńcza księgi. Uczeń jest powodem, dla którego księga mnie przeżyje. Metoda nie umiera z ręką, jeśli ręka ją przekaże. To jest druga połowa zdania: buduję książkę, która mnie przeżyje.
Always my hand — but not always alone. The apprentice does not dilute the book. The apprentice is the reason the book will outlive me. The Method does not die with the hand if the hand passes it on. This is the second half of the sentence: I build a book that outlives me.
